Traffic Tickets

We handle traffic ticket court cases mostly in Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties as well as throughout Northern Virginia. Locally, the towns of Herndon, Vienna and Fairfax have their own police and traffic courts and we handle cases there too. Most traffic cases just involve paying a fine. Sometimes though, for more serious cases like drunk or reckless driving, you may be looking at jail time, loss of your driver's license and other penalties. That's when it helps to have a good lawyer by your side.

Some basic things to know about getting a traffic ticket in Virginia are:

  • You are never required to have a lawyer with you to go to traffic court (or for any legal issue).
  • The penalty for a DUI or Reckless Driving charge in Virginia can include up to one year in jail and a $2,500.00 fine. Plus, you may also have your driver's license suspended and be ordered to take classes.
  • Points against your drivers license are assigned by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles [www.dmv.state.va.us], not the court.
  • We don’t think books like ‘How to Get My Traffic Ticket Dismissed’ or ‘Secrets to Representing Myself in Traffic Court’ seem to be much help for people with cases in Virginia traffic courts. We do think that people who got these books probably also bought ‘How to Remove My Own Appendix’–and are just asking for trouble.

When you come in to visit us though, we will tell you some of our methods of defending traffic ticket charges that will sometimes get your charge reduced or even dismissed. Contact us now to arrange your free consultation and get all the facts. rdain@comcast.net
